The Tins formed in upstate New York and are currently based out of Buffalo. This Indie/pop/rock trio consists of three college friends, brought together by their passion for music. The Tins have been working collaboratively in various forms for over three years.
The instrumentation of the band consists of Adam Putzer, employed as guitarist and vocal personnel of the group, Mike Santillo, other vocal entity and wielder of dual keyboards (bass and synth tones), and Dave Muntner, delivering rhythmic magic that drives the often eclectic compositions.
In December of 2009, The Tins embarked on a cross-state journey to record their self-titled EP at Dreamland Studio, just outside of Woodstock, NY. The songs on the EP were all recorded in three long days of non-stop studio sessions, and then mixed and mastered over the next few months and released in April of 2010.
The Recommender blog based in the UK writes about the band’s debut EP, “tight, masterfully layered jams, that build and fold into honest, captivating tracks such as these are actually very rare.” (therecommender.net). Another music blog, Prettymuchamazing.com, writes about a track found on The Tins’ self titled EP, “Santillo and Putzer’s binary vocal deliveries, their coexisting keyboard and guitar work and insightful lyrics drive “The Green Room” and the Tins to places so rarely visited by debut recordings.”
